There has been much debate on social media, newspapers, magzines about the causes and remedies for the novel Covid-19. In this brief article, we are concerned more with the latter than the former. China is known to be the sole country in fighting successfully against this outbreak. And some other countries are following the suit as well. How China did so, is, indeed, a great lesson to be learned for all of us.
A common myth is in the air is that the virus spreads mostly because of the interaction people make to each and, and considering this thing we can easily thawrt its spread by cutting all means of transportation and gathering. But history signifies something otherwise: the Black Death of 14th century spread in total absense of vehicles and airplanes, killing at least a quarter of the population. Small Pox epidemics made its way to a third of Mexico's inhabitants at a discount of trains and even animals like donkeys. In 1918 a particular wave if flu fatalised people as plentiful aa black berries. So, will shutting borders alone be helpful to hit the nail?
In countries like Pakistan and India, a surveilience culture has been raised to the ground because of lockdown. But people are being seen on roads, being punished below the dignity, and some to enjoy the scenes. A video circulating the social media went through the observation in which one young boy was being insulted as he had worn girls' dress by veiling face to go out of the house with his fellow, a boy riding bike.
In such a scenerio there is a dire need to develope two things: trust upon public authorities and science by the mass and global solidarity. 'It is not too late to build people's trust in science, in public authorities and in the media.' When people are told the scientific facts, and trust public authorities, they can abide by the rules even without the surveilience of forces. In this way, citizens can be made stand shoulder to shoulder to curb this virus. Secondly, the global solidarity is what we, at the top of tier, need to develope. If a country successfuly takes over the deceased rate, it can help other countries by sharing its experience. Moreover, the help can also be extended by sending doctors from the countries where there is no more need of them in this regard to the areas where struggles are being vested to thawrt its spread. In this way, Coronavirus is a major test if both good citizenship and cooperation among international boundaries.
