Gramsci introduced two ways to control people: Coercive method (using force like weapon etc), and Discurcive method (using discourse like inculcating elements of inferiority in the national syllabi, sterotype narratives, public opinion through newspaper and social media). Analysing the two different methods which are primarily meant to control the nation or people, the latter is much applicable and fruitful.
That's why, we see that most of the third world nations like Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, Syria, Nigeria, African countries, Cuba, Vietnam etc are enslaved using this technique.
However, I have also seen a third method in recent years. Especially to control even those countries who are rich in resources or economy. This is 'debt-politics'. Instability is thrived on the countries through terrorism, internal security problems and then remedial packages are given in the form of debt-grant. Quite ironical in the sense that the same countries promote internal insecurity, and the same fund them. Fir example, the web of IMF, World Bank, and even the Belt Road Initiative (BRI) by China are all the chips of the same block.
China is tieing brotherly relations with countries like Pakistan, Indonesia, Turkey, Europe, Iran by investing in infrastructure, pipelines, roads etc. But this investment is not a gift, but a debt-trap. Those countries who are unable to payback the loan to China will have to handover their projects even lands inside their countries to China. NELBEC, CMREC, CCWAEC, CICPEC, BCIMEC, CPEC are gateway to maintain global hegemony in the countries, and broadely throughout the world, as against the USA domination.
There is need to move in a systematic manner so as not let yourself delve in this debt-trap. Encouraging local industries, eliminating the bar of privileged, solutions to the prennial problems like poverty, education, clean water and above all corruption demand a tough practice by the Executive combined with Legislature and Judiciary. The route of change will pour down from the high to the low.
