Afghanistan's Conundrum

Pakistan's relation with its neighbouring war-torn country are going through hot waters. Whereas the withdrawl of US forces from the land is implying imminent peace in the region, the possibility of extremists coming to power is also weighed equally.

The Biden adminstration announced to pull out all the forces from Afghanistn by September 11. The forces had been there since the 9/ 11 attack. Washington at that time blamed the attack had been made by Al Qaida, a militant organisation in Afghanistan. Later Washington urged Kabul to hand over Osama Bin Laden, the mind-master of Al-Qaida's attack. The negative answer from the side of militia urged Washington launched operations in Afghanistan. The aim was to discover Osama who has been hiding in the mountains.

Later the news was making round on media that Osama Bin Laden was shot dead in Abbot Abbad, a city in Pakistan. This point made Pakistan entangled in never ending complexion. The civil government in Afghanistan  along with US blamed Pakistan for harbouring terrorists. Moreover the case of Laden was also suspected on Pakistan's side. This was the moment when Pakistan was streamed across the global media as a terrorist state.

The impact was grave. Pakistan's economy was hugely destructed as none country was ready to cooperate with it. The presence of Washington's forces was also increased on the grounds that the forces were trying to wipe out terrorists so that they might not cause any huge loss afterwards.

But the situation is not as simple as has been stated in aforementioned paragraphs. Some analysts argue that the attack had never been made by either militia or with Pakistan's backed terrorsits. On the other hand, they argue it was a systematic effort on the behalf of Washington in involve in South Asian politics.

The argument is justified as far as today's facts and figures demonstrate. For example, in the post Wars world, USSR was still a great power along with America. The latter always felt a threat of being diminished. That's why, we see that in the seventies a cold war was fought on the land of Afghanistan. Washington also took help from Pakistan by in disguise of religious misinterpretation of Jihad.

Today the leadership of Pakistan, including chief of Army Staff is admitting that Pakistan had been used in the Cold War. The loss of innocent lives and soldiers cannot be retaliated. Despite it we also see that China is an emerging global power today. Its booming economy has set in trends in global market. Its fashion has outstripped all other countries. The BRI project is playing a symbolic role in China's conquering the East and the West. In all this scenerio it might also be possible that USA's presence in Afghanistan was, in fact, a move to halt China's progress by instigating wars in the region.

The recent withdrawl of the forces has shown that America is losing war now. The war which has ravaged the entire region for decades is coming to a close now. America has admitted its defeat. A huge amount of money which was spent for wars in Afghanistan has gone to ashes now. And it is also likely that America would cease to be a global power now.

In Afghanistan's prespective it is widely held that the departure of forces would start a new era of endless civils war in the country. The Taliban which had a long awaited desire to be in power and to establish their own so called Islamic empire would eventually be realised. The presence of America was a great threat to Taliban. But now they could easily challange the civil government.

Afghanistan has a cyclic mode of history with civil wars the pivotal point. At every point in circle there is a new civil war with the same results waiting ahead. But quite sorrowfully the children, women and youth are being tormented. Women are not allowed to do anything other than household chores. Children are killed. Youth is hired in bloody fractions of militia. They are trained weapons instead of the use of the pen.

Even though the country is witnessing bloodshed from its inception yet US had left no stone unturned to aggravate the situation. Pakistan faced a severe crisis of refugees as more than 2 millions people have migrated to Pakistan with no plan to return to their land. Fencing is already on the way. But it is costing soldier's lives due to attempts to stop this fencing.

Whatever happens in Afghanistan had always disturbed Pakistan's inner stability. Pakistan had always had a lenient diplomacy towards Afghanistan, but at times the leadership in Afghanistan was also seen blaming Pakistan for backing terrorists. The arguments on no grounds can be justified, yet today Pakistan needs to alter its policies towards Afghanistan.
