Review: The Alchemist

In this material life, majority of the people are confused to choose the right path at the right time. Someone confines himself to his legend or to his emotions. This book gives a new way to fulfill our legend with the temporary sacrifice of our love.

"The Alchemist" is an interesting and inspirational journey. The whole story revolves around the "Personal Legend". The story is all about a journey of physical and spiritual change. The whole journey tells us to tackle difficulties of our way. Some barriers stop us to go onward but this story throws light on the consistency and priorities. These barriers cannot stop us if we are stuck to pursue our Personal Legend. The main focus of the story is on the sufferings of the journey and lessons of sufferings.

The story starts with a dream. A shepherd named Santiago has chosen his profession according to his own liking. He dreams twice about a treasure lying under the Pyramids of Egypt. And his quest for finding that treasure becomes a struggle of his life.

During his journey, he meets a lot of people and gets many life lessons. He follows his Personal Legend without any fear of losing. But on the way, he finds a beautiful girl. He greatly falls in love with her that he can't live without her. It was one of the big barrier on his way: leaving his love for his Personal Legend. But he sacrifices his love and moves forward. This story ends when he finds his Personal Legend. This shows that the real treasure is not that he dreamed about but the unforgettable lessons.

One beautiful thing about the novel is its magical language. The language of birds, winds, and the voices of the heart gives too much aesthetic pleasure. The writer describes the "Language of the World and the Soul of the World" in a very beautiful manner. Nature is the greatest power but it also has some limitations. The events are magical. Santiago’s talk with desert, wind and the sun is phenomenally written. This is the fantasy that tells us that nature is absolutely soulful.
One of the greatest hindrances described in the novel is fear. The fear of failure stops us to live and get our dreams. It is a great victory to overcome this fear. As Paulo Coelho says:
“Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself.”
It was very difficult for the boy to choose one thing from his love and Personal Legend but the story proves that real love is the supporting tool to achieve his Personal Legend. It tells us that true love proves to be a great stimulus.
For him, all the luxuries of life are temporary. The life cycle goes on to achieve the Alchemist while our relations are also established, and have to be unless they do not hinder our journey:
"We are travelers on a cosmic journey, stardust, swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity."

The story tells us to value even the little things happening in our life.
The important lesson is:
“Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure.”
I think some people need to think upon it. Life will go away, moments will fly. But the 'silent delights' will not come ever. Becoming rational will give you only wit, and not the treasure.
To sum up, we can say that
“THE ALCHEMIST” is a treasure in itself. It broadens our vision and inspires us to pursue our Personal Legend. By reading it we get closer to the nature. Highly motivational and inspirational novel, it should be read by everyone. After reading this literary and optimistic piece of work, I find myself free from my inner juggling questions between personal legend and love. And the way how to pursue personal legend as well love. Each line of this book mesmerised me to choose the right path at the right time. The author's enormous style and talent touched my soul deeply for personal meaning.
